OUR HISTORY

1887

PAUL: THE FOUNDER

For generations, the Hostomme family has cultivated the land, but it was with Paul, born in 1877, that the story changed. In a rural world marked by polyculture, he made a decisive choice: to develop viticulture, thus forging the future of his descendants.

1931

MARCEL: THE VISIONARY

In the 1930s, Marcel continued the work of his father Paul, while remaining careful in a context where polyculture predominated. Passionate about viticulture, he bought up plots of land, including frozen vines, and surrounded himself with the right people. Under his impulse, champagne sales grew, resulting in the creation of the “Paul Hostomme” brand. His sons Michel and Jacques grew up in this world. In 1951, the family business became Champagne M. Hostomme.

1960

MICHEL & JACQUES: THE UNIFIERS

In the 1960s, Michel and Jacques naturally joined the family business before taking over the reins. Visionaries, they set their sights on exports, notably to England, which boosted sales. In 1985, 70,000 bottles were sold, a success reinforced by their expansion into Belgium and Germany, enabling sales to exceed 100,000 bottles.

1971

LAURENT & CHRYSTELLE: THE FEDERATORS

Laurent, a passionate winegrower, officially joined the company in 1993. In 1997, he married Chrystelle who helped him with the packaging and administrative side of the business. In the 2000s, sales soared (+25,000 bottles), prompting the company to structure its organization. The arrival of their son Paul in 2005 inspired the new orange packaging, a unifying symbol for the brand. Thanks to rigorous management and a forward-looking vision, Champagne M. Hostomme now sells over 250,000 bottles.

2025

AND TODAY

In 2021, we made history with over 340,000 bottles sold, a record that testifies to the continuing appeal of our cuvées. In 2025, the company is present in 27 countries, driven by a constantly renewed dynamic, both in France and abroad. Some fifteen men and women, proud artisans of this heritage, convey the values of excellence and passion every day, making each bottle an exceptional cuvée.

THE VINEYARDS

The Champagne region

The Champagne vineyards represent only 0.5% of the world's wine-growing area, with a total of 34,300 hectares. Located in the territory of the former province of Champagne, it now extends mainly in the Grand Est region, covering three major administrative regions and five departments: Marne, Aube, Aisne, Seine-et-Marne and Haute-Marne. The vineyards are spread over 319 villages, all classified according to a qualitative hierarchy known as the “echelle des crus”: Grand Cru, Premier Cru or Autre Cru. This historic classification contributes to the unrivalled reputation and quality of Champagne wines.

THE CELLAR

Between tradition and modernity: the art of winemaking and ageing in the service of excellenc

At the heart of our estate, the winemaking cellar, with its 2,600 hectoliters of temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, ensures the perfect balance of each harvest.
The soul of our wines is then shaped in one of our 1,000 hectoliter stainless steel vats, our 4 40 hectoliter oak tuns or one of our 12 2.2 to 5 hectoliter barrels, creating spaces where time and nature meet.

Our 1,200 m2 storage cellar holds up to 800,000 bottles, which age peacefully in ideal conditions, guided by the wisdom of time. After disgorgement, a 600 m cellar, where 100,000 bottles find their serenity, ensures that each of them reaches its peak with elegance and refinement.
